| IGP Usman Alkali Baba |
Tragedy occured at the Nigerian Police Headquarters in Lagos on Wednesday, June 9, 2021 when the Inspector General of Police, IGP Usman Alkali Baba, paid his first official visit to the Lagos State Police Command.
Prior to the IGP’s visit to the Headquarters, he had paid a courtesy visit to the Executive Governor of Lagos state, Mr. Babajide Sanwoolu, as well as the paramount ruler of Lagos, Oba Rilwan Akiolu, the Oba of Lagos.
About 2:20 p.m during the delivering of speech by the IGP, there occurred a rainstorm which made the canopy under which the IGP was sheded nearly fell on him.
The IGP was however luckily able to survive unscathed without any form of injury.
He was whisked away by members of his security detail to a safe haven within the premises.
Recall that the late chief of army staff, Lt. Gen. Ibrahim Attahiru, recently died in a plane crash, and now the IGP nearly death experience.
