Illicit Drugs Concealed In Statue Of 'Blessed Virgin Mary' Seized By NDLEA In Lagos


The National Drug Law Enforcement Agency (NDLEA) has seized iliicit drugs concealed in the statue of the Blessed Virgin Mary, Mother of Jesus Christ. 

The narcotics couriers who used the holy statue to conceal their illicit drugs were nabbed by some operatives of the NDLEA in Lagos state. 

The concealed drugs were intercepted by NDLEA operatives embedded in two courier companies. 

Some were also discovered in auto spare parts to be dispatched to United Arab Emirates (UAE) and Canada. 

NDLEA's Director of Media and Advocacy, Mr Femi Babafemi, disclosed in Abuja on Saturday, April 24, that 140 grammes of methamphethamine packaged in the statue was seized in one of the courier companies. 

According to him, the drug was to be delivered in the Philippines. 

He added that 500 grammes of heroin concealed in auto spare parts heading to Canada were also intercepted at a second courier company. 

A package of 1kg of Indian hemp concealed inside local herbs, and another 3.1kg concealed inside spices were also seized. 

The two packages were to be delivered at the UAE.
