The incident happened barely few hours after President Muhammadu Buhari arrived in his hometown in Daura, Katsina, for a week-long private visit.
Confirming the incident, the state's Police Command Public Relations Officer, SP Gambo Isah in his words said;
“On Friday around 11:30 p.m., gunmen in their numbers attacked the school with dangerous weapons.
They began to shoot and engaged our men guarding the school in a duel. That gave some students an opportunity to jump over the fence and run into the town for safety. The gunmen also shot one of the security guards at the gate who is presently responding to treatment."

While no student was reportedly killed, SP Isah said that it was too early to determine the number of students kidnapped or missing.
However, parents of wards have rushed to the school to know their fate.
