Nigeria's Minister of Information, Lai Mohammed, has said that no massacre took place during the #EndSARS protest which took place at the Lagos Lekki Toll Gate on October 20.

This was said by the Minister on Saturday, November 7, while on a Federal Government delegation visit to the South-East to meet with leaders of the region.

Lai Mohammed affirmed that the widely spread massacre rumour was obviously a fake news which was propaganded to discredit the government.

“There was no massacre at the Lekki Toll Gate. The only massacre that took place during the EndSARS protest was the social media massacre," he said.

The Minister further reiterated Federal Government's stand on social media regulation, while stressing the warning about fake news as far back as 2017.

He noted that fake news kills more than any pandemic, and therefore condemned it.
