The two suspects also conjured up a fake "genie", sources disclose.
The doctor, Laeek Khan, after realising the lamp lacks magical powers, as described in the popular and controversial folktale about 'Alaadin' and the wish-granting 'genie' that appears when it's rubbed, approached the police.
Sources also disclosed that the cheats had struck much more deals as Khan had paid about 7 million Rupees ($93,000) for the said lamp.
While the suspects were arrested on Thursday, October 29, they are currently remanded in custody ahead of charges being filed against them.
A wife to one of the suspects who was also involved in the fraud is still at large.
In Khan's laid complaint to the police, one of the claimed suspects pretended to be a occultist and made a 'jinn', a supernatural figure, appeared from the lamp.
Meanwhile, Khan's request to take the lamp home or touch the genie was refused, saying it might cause him harm.
Eventually the lamp was sold to him, as they (suspects) promised that the lamp would bring good fortunes, health and wealth.
Khan later realised that the 'genie' was just actually one of the suspects in disguise.
Sources also state that the said suspects have duped other families using same tricks.
