We Will Do Everything Possible To Discourage Doctors From Leaving The Country _ FG


The Federal Government of Nigeria has said that it will do everything possible in its power to discourage it doctors from leaving the country. 

This was disclosed by the Minister of Health, Osagie Ehanire, after inspecting the new Cancer Centre at the National Hospital in Abuja, on Friday, October 31.

Ehanire while acknowledging the hospital's efforts and commitment during the peak of COVID-19 pandemic in the country, noted the Federal Government's commitment to ensure doctors prefer to stay and work in the country. 

Ehanire said that the government will provide incentives to doctors in the country to make migration "unattractive". 

“I have heard the challenge of doctors leaving the country. We have plans to provide better funding for our hospitals in Nigeria and make such migration unattractive,” he said. 

Also speaking, Chief Medical Director of the National Hospital Abuja, Dr. jaf Momoh, indicated that the hospital has provided incentives to its doctors and other medical personnels so as to encourage them to stay.
