Senate President, Dr. Ahmad Lawan |
President of the Nigeria Senate, Dr. Ahmad Lawan, has beckoned on Nigerian youths to stop the controversial #EndSARS protest as the Special Anti Robbery Squad (SARS) unit of the Nigeria Police Force has been disbanded.
The Senate president said this during a held plenary on Tuesday, following a motion presented by Senator Buhari Abdulfatai, representing Oyo North Senatorial District, on the death of his constituency member, Jimoh Isiaka, and the recent attack on Soun of Ogbomoso palace.
According to Lawan, the motives of the #EndSARS protest has been achieved as the controversial police unit, SARS, has been disbanded. Hence, there should be no need for further protest again.
He however noted the people's right in meting out their grievances through protest over the misconduct of SARS officers.
Also, a minute silence was observed by the Senators in honour of Jimoh Isiaka, and other slain Nigerians who lost their lives to police brutality.
