Nigerian Ngozi Okonjo Iweala Emerges WTO DG

From reports just gathered, Nigerian-born international development expert and economist, Dr. Ngozi Okonjo-Iweala, has reportedly emerged the Director-General (DG) of the World Trade Organization (WTO). 

Majority of the European Union (EU) member states reportedly voted in her favour so as to take the position. 

Okonjo-Iweala reportedly polled 104 votes from 164 member countries to defeat Yoo Myung-hee of the Republic of South Korea. 

Meanwhile, Yoo Myung-hee (53) is the first woman from South Korea to head the Ministry of Commerce. 

The WTO is expected to officially declare 69-year-old Okonjo-Iweala as its new DG any moment soon.
