Opinion Polls Showed APC Would Win Edo Election, Don't Know What Happened _ El-Rufai

Kaduna State Governor, Nasir El-Rufai, has disclosed that he was optimistic prior three weeks to the concluded Edo governorship election that the All Progressives Congress (APC) would win the poll. 

According to the Governor, opinion polls conducted before the main election had shown Osagie Ize-Iyamu of the APC winning the election. 

He added that he didn't really know what happened and went wrong in the last three weeks of the APC'S campaign. 

This is following INEC declaration on Sunday, of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) candidate, Godwin Obaseki as the winner of the September 19 Edo governorship poll. 

Godwin Obaseki polled 307,999 votes to defeat his closest rival, Pastor Ize-Iyamu of the APC, who got 223,619 votes. 

Meanwhile, El-Rufai while featuring on Channels Tv, has said that the poll was reasonably decent. 

“Three weeks ago, the polls(opinion polls) clearly showed that APC was going to win but the result came out differently from what we expected.

“Obaseki has won, that’s it. You can’t go into an election without the possibility of losing," El-Rufai said.
