Repentant Boko-Haram Terrorists Paid N20k Each

Following the report of the 601 repentant Boko-Haram terrorists reintegrated into the society by the Nigerian Defence Headquarters, another fresh report indicates the payment of N20,000 stipends given to each of the ex-militants. 

This was disclosed by the Borno state Commissioner for Information, Babakura Jatau, during a media interview. 

Jatau disclosed that the sum of N20,000 was given to each of the 601 repentant Boko-Haram terrorists, with some basic equipments to enable them practise their respective vocations. 

According to Jatau, the North East Development Commission (NEDC), and the International Organisation for Migration were behind the stipends payment. 

He denied reports that the Borno Government gave the beneficiaries an N100,000 each. 

Jatau noted that only 10% of the repentant terrorists were actually Boko-Haram members, while the rest were abductees who later became accomplices. 

He also said;

“What the government will do is that they will be brought to Borno State from Gombe and they will be housed in two orientation camps where there are facilities for training and for them to practise whatever they were taught in Gombe,"
