The Nigeria Government has received the third tranche of the late former head of state "General Sani Abacha" loot, the looted funds which is about $311,797,866.11million was received from the United States of America and Bailiwick of Jersey respectively.
This was diclosed by the Attorney-General of the federation and Minister of Justice "Abubakar Malami". During a press release by his Special assistant on Media and Public Relations, Dr Umar Gwandu stated that the amount increased significantly from the initial $308million diclosed in an earlier statement around February. This was due to the interest accrued between the initial period the money was received by the CBN and the 28th of April.
He further asserted that the recovered loot will be used to execute various projects in the country, with the inclusion of Abuja, Lagos,Ibadan, Kano roads and Second Niger Bridge.
According to the Minister, the recovered funds was looted in the country and laundered through the US banking system. The money was held at the Bailiwick of Jersey bank accounts.
