38,887 officials to be recruited for Edo and Ondo Gov elections _ INEC

The Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC), has announced that it will recruit and deploy over 38,887 officials for the forthcoming governorship elections in Edo and Ondo states respectively. 

The adhoc staffs are to serve respectively as; Governorship Constituency Supervisors and Reserves, LGA supervisors, Constituency Supervisors, Assistant Presiding Officers (Voting point), Assistant Presiding Officers (1,2 and 3), Presiding Officers, Supervisory Presiding Officers, Registration Area Collation Officers, LGA Collation Officers, and Returning Officers. 

Disclosed by one of INEC's National Commissioners, Festus Okoye during an interview stated that electronic and non-contact means will be used by the Commission for the recruitment process. 

“The formal recruitment of ad hoc staff will commence as soon as the commission works out the modalities for their recruitment.”  He said. 

Ondo Governorship polls had been slated on the 10th of October, while September 19 is for Edo.

The Commission also stated its ongoing efforts in redesigning various polling units against COVID-19 outbreak. Protective equipments, hand-sanitisers, and face-masks are to be made available at each polling units.
