A 13-year-old girl has reportedly committed suicide in the Yala Local Government area of Cross Rivers State. According to reports, the little girl had a sharp misunderstanding with her mother after which she drank herbicide and died.
It was learnt that the mother had scolded her for an unknown offence which triggered her suicide thoughts. The herbicide she drank was used by her mother to kill grass in the farm.
After drinking the said herbicide, she went to lay in her room and started vomiting and excreting simultaneously. It took the quick intervention of people to discover what had happened. However, she couldn't escape the death as she was rushed to the hospital.
The deceased was a JSS 2 student of a private secondary school in Okuku, Cross River State. She was also buried on the same day she died, as related to the taboos of the incident community.
