The fresh report just coming in is that some inmates of the Delta State Prison also known as the Nigeria Correctional Services has attempted a jail-break in Sapele division of the state.
The unusual jail-break which was foiled by the quick intervention of the operatives of the service, Nigeria Police and the Department of State Services (DSS) was triggered by the alleged poor treatment from the part of the prison officials to the inmates. This includes poor provision of food, water and other basic needs.
It was reported that the inmates set the prison on fire with the plan to escape as soon as the opportunity arised, But unluckily for them, their plan was disrupted by the quick response from a joint security task-force.
As at this report, efforts to ascertain the number of casualties is still ongoing while the fire service team had quenched the fire.
